The handle display is a key part of that experience. As usmile’s largest on-handle screen, it gives users a more immediate way to check what the OralCam sees. Instead of separating brushing from feedback, D50 brings them together in the same device, making visible care feel more direct and easier to repeat.

Behind that simple experience is usmile’s most powerful on-device AI capability to date. D50’s AI system helps process oral images locally, support tooth-level recognition, and turn visual information into easier-to-understand feedback. Combined with motion sensing, it helps connect what users see with where they are brushing, so daily cleaning can become more targeted and less dependent on guesswork.

Designing this kind of toothbrush required more than adding a camera to a handle. The mouth is wet, narrow, reflective, and constantly moving. Saliva can create glare. The tongue and cheeks can interrupt the image. Angle and distance change from user to user. D50 was developed around these realities, with optical engineering, guided capture, water-resistant structural design, and an ergonomic form built for daily bathroom use.

That boundary is important. D Series is not designed to replace dentists or provide professional diagnosis. A consumer image cannot replace a dental examination, X-rays, professional cleaning, or clinical judgment. Privacy is also built into the experience. D50 does not include Wi-Fi. Oral images and core image processing are handled locally on the device, and the toothbrush connects to the app through Bluetooth. Images are not uploaded to the cloud for usmile to view.
